Thrive on Mars is all about strategy, exploration, and building a life on the red planet! The player’s end goal is to build their ideal life on the red planet. The expansive and persistent nature of the simulation gives players the flexibility to define what this could look like, which could evolve over time.


# Interplanetary Space Alliance
Thrive on Mars is set in the near future (starting in the 2030s) and follows the story of the fictional Interplanetary Space Alliance (ISA). The ISA was founded in 2022 as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) for space exploration. The ISA’s current initiative is to create a self-sustaining city on Mars.

The ISA, driven by its core values of Multiplanetary expansion, Autonomous participation, Redistributive gains, and Sustainable efforts, aims to make humanity a free, fair, and multiplanetary species. Colonizing Mars is the first step toward this goal, as it will lead to innovation, scientific discoveries and a potential safe haven for humanity.

# Tokens
Players activate their NFTs in the game to participate in colony resource management, map exploration, and skill-based mini games. These gameplay activities produce two main categories of blockchain tokens:

## MARTIA Token
MARTIA acts as a medium of exchange for gameplay purposes and can be used to pay for a range of in-game items including NFT cards, upgrades, and land plots. These items are used to expand a player’s influence within the game.

## Resource Tokens
Resource tokens are pure utility tokens that represent the various goods, commodities, and services created and consumed on Mars.

# Gameplay
As an explorer of a new planet, you have the opportunity to participate in various colony activities. The majority of gameplay elements center around economic strategy, but there are also exploration and skill-based mini-games:

**Explore beyond the colony**
Organize expeditions and set off to explore, scan, and discover resource deposits.

**Manage colony resources**
Efficiently manage a dynamic resource chain that is affected by other players’ decisions and randomly occurring hazards.

**Advance your aerospace career**
Join the Interplanetary Space Alliance (ISA) and build your aerospace career by successfully managing operations on an ever-expanding Mars base. Climb leaderboards, gain XP, and earn achievements. Become a Martian legend!

**Expand the colony**
Develop the main colony through construction, refueling, and making discoveries.

**Acquire land and build your own outpost**
Work together with other players to develop new outposts or build your own oasis on Mars. Accumulate resource tokens, form alliances, acquire blueprints, construct buildings, equipment, vehicles, and customize your items with visual upgrades.

# Vehicles
Choose from four different vehicles for your exploration: the Rover, Buggy, Quad Bike, and Scouting Drone. Each vehicle has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages, so be sure to choose wisely.

# Equipment
Equipment lies at the heart of your exploration, serving as the backbone for various tasks, including launching Rocketships and generating fuel to power your endeavors. By acquiring the right equipment, you can ensure the smooth expansion of your colony and the success of your exploration missions.

# Buildings
Buildings play a vital role in the development of your colony, serving as essential hubs for social interaction and facilitating important advancements, such as laboratories and medical facilities. Placed on designated plots within your colony, these structures are key to its progress. It is important to strategically plan your colony's expansion, ensuring the incorporation of necessary buildings.

# Astronauts
Astronauts form the foundation of your colony, serving as essential assets for exploration and colony expansion. There are various types of astronauts, including Scientists, Doctors, Botanists, and more. Depending on your strategy, it is crucial to carefully choose the appropriate mix of astronauts for your mission.

# Resources
The deeper a player's comprehension of the science required to operate a Mars base and the interconnectedness of its systems, the higher their potential for amassing resources. To seize any arising opportunities, players must effectively manage their deck of NFTs and the corresponding resources.

The colony will require various resources in order to survive, thrive, and then expand. The general concept for resources is as follows: each item type requires differing resource inputs and produces corresponding resource outputs.

# Hazards
Mars is a dynamic, hostile environment that will pose many challenges. A settlement will need to respond to hazards frequently in order to keep things operational. These hazards can disrupt supply lines, reduce the effectiveness of equipment and vehicles, and require astronauts to take additional downtime to recover from both mental and physical issues.

# Colony Development
As players master the Resource Chain, they have greater ability to contribute to the strategies of Colony Development: The current highest form of player participation to create a self-sustaining civilization on Mars. Using collective resources to support colony boosting activities like constructing astronaut houses or sponsoring rocket convoys helps the colony grow and thrive while yielding the most valuable rewards to participating players.
